Once Upon a Time...
I’ve always been a “Maker” in some form or fashion: starting as a kid with paint-by-number, embroidery, crochet, sewing, & knitting then upholstery, quilting, chalk painting, gardening, tailoring, & furniture refurbishing as an adult. In 2011 when my daughter & son-in-law came home from their NYC honeymoon with a Reader’s Digest Condensed Book Club book that had been cut into the shape of a letter, I was in awe! I remembered my mother being a member of that club & reading those books as a kid. When I found out that they’re mostly being thrown into landfills & trash dumps, it pulled at my heart strings. So, in 2014, I quit my job of 18 years, stepped out in faith into the realm of Book Art with my small business, & started saving the planet... one book at a time!
Since then, I have been a vendor in Art Shows across the country, met scores of wonderful people, and “arted” to my heart’s content.
I have created over 250 designs (not including the Letters & States) that I’ve handcut myself with my trusty saw. I also cut custom books in the form of logos, tributes, & special memory designs that I work with my clients to create.
I now understand what it means to “work at what you love & it won’t feel like working.” I feel like I get to “play” every single day.
